Mr. Wolfe is the coordinator for Berlin High School's Independent Study Program. Any students interested in an independent study should contact their guidance counselor.

Mr. Wolfe is the club advisor for the Radio Club, WERB FM, 94.5 MHz. New members are welcomed.

Project El Camino is designed to provide Period 6 Intro to automotive an opportunity to develop the following skills:

Problem solving
Planning
Journaling and writen communications
Research (needed to develop an understanding of the various automotive systems and the interactions they have amongst each other)
Resaerch (needed to develop a plan of restoration - what paint, what engine, what transmission, what as happening in history at the time of manufacture)
Research (needed to develop a plan to increase performance - why will a larger exhaust help, why will a different cam help, intake air flow improvments, updating braking systems)
Inventory control and parts managment
Safe tool use both hand, power, and air tools
Welding and cutting skills
Auto body skills and connections (chemistry of catalysts in body filler and paint, atomization, venturi effect, panel strength, vectors)
Gear ratios - speed, horsepower, and torque calculations
Team work - pride of a project

Today's update includes pictures from day one

Project El Camino started in January 2006.  The project consists of restoration and repair of a 1976 El Camino Classic by Chevy.  Originally powered by a 350ci motor with a 2 barrel carb.   The motor shows no sign of life will not turn over at all.  Problems getting electricity to the starter and rest of the vehicle.   Extensive body repair is needed with both rear quaters rusted thru and damage to the lower door skins and bed.  

 The picture below  is  its  current  condition  after  some  time  working  on  it.

Technology affects everyone everyday. It is my desire to encourage all students to recognize the human made world around us. To understand the impacts of technology, both positive and negative and how these impacts affect us. How has the world around you changed in the past 5 years? 10 years? 15 years?

I graduated from Berlin High School after taking a number of industrial arts classes and continued my education of industrial technology in college.
